Web Consulting services
I've been developing and maintaining web sites since 1997. When it comes to web design, I follow these basic principles:
- Web sites should be simple, clean, and easy to use.
- A web site's main function is to convey its content easily and accurately.
- You should have control over updating content on your web site.
- Your web site should be accessible on any browser using any device.
- Loading pages and information should be quick.
- Your pages should be made so as many as possible will come up in search engine queries. This will increase your web site's visibility.
My designs are simple and clean, with a main focus on their content. I usually develop web sites on a Content Management System, like Drupal, and include training for you and/or your staff so that after the development process has been completed you can update your own web site.
I can also host your web site and set up Google Apps, which would allow you to create your own domain e-mail addresses, and have a Gmail interface to your e-mail with shared calendars and documents.
Because I provide web services after hours, I prefer working with non-profits and social justice-oriented folks. The revolution may not televised, but we can at least take over Twitter. In my experience, I've found that most non-profits and activists are too busy changing the world to worry about creating and updating their web sites. I'll work to make sure you're proud to put your domain on your business cards and tell people to subscribe to your twitter feed.
I'll take the time to get to know your organization and your work, come up with a proposal to meet your needs, and then work with you to make sure your web site is more amazing than you hoped for. I understand that folks don't always feel like experts when it comes to web site technology. I will explain things in simple terms and answer any questions you have so that you feel empowered with an understanding of your options and the available technology.
Check out my portfolio and resume, and contact me if you have any questions, or just wanna chat about what Basecamp is over some tea. I'd love to hear from you!!
